Life Insurance After Positive Drug Screen?
Posted January 31, 2010 – 4:15 am in: term life insuranceMy husband tested positive for cocaine 6 years ago when he had a physical for life insurance. He was a recreational drug user and has not used in 5 years. Since then we met, married, and had a child. We were looking into getting life insurance for him but know it will be difficult. The positive screen is listed on his MIB report for 1/2002. Is it possible that he get a term life isurance policy and where?

Six years ago is long enough that most life insurance companies aren’t going to count it against him. Contact an independent agent in your area, tell them the situation, and let them do the work for you. They know their companies and will be able to help you out.
Oh yes, he should be able to find very affordable life insurance. Here are some case studies on cocaine addiction, to give you some idea.
Any insurance company is going to have their own tests run on your husband. That’s a long time ago and nothing would be detected now. Don’t even mention it. You shouldn’t have any problems, really.
Yes, he should be insurable based on that information. Make sure that he is up front and honest on the application. That will help him alot when the company matches it up against his MIB record.
It would be a good idea to talk to a local agent in your area. You can do that easily by filling out a form at http://www.myinsurancequotes.net. A local agent will help you through the ins and outs of his situation.

Apply – it doesn’t cost anything.
