Where Can I Find What Companies A Agent Was Selling Life Insurance For In 1968?
Posted July 12, 2010 – 4:53 pm in: structured settlements FAQYour local library may have old phone books and you may be able to find the name of the agent and then in his/her yellow page ad find out the name of the insurance company. Also another place to look is through old checks or bank statements.
Remember that an insurance company could have changed names several times over the past 30 years. For example in 1940’s -1960’s Nationwide Insurance Co was called Farm Bureau. The insurance company could also be out of business.
I would try your state department of insurance customer service phone number and see if they can help you. I would try to talk to a real person rather than try to do on-line.

Theoretically, the state insurance commissioner is the only agency that could possibly know which company the agent was appointed with, but practically, they aren’t going to have records from forty years ago.
You’ll have to ask the agent.
But it’s pretty irrelevant – you can’t DO anything with that information. I suspect, you REALLY are trying to ask a different question.
The insurance commissioner fof your state might have those records. Usually it’s hard to find out such records that are forty years old. Still, you can try.
