Is It Normal To Have A Physical Exam For Life Insurance At Home?

Posted February 4, 2010 – 10:27 am in: structured settlements FAQ

My husband is getting insurance through geico and he says they are sending someone Saturday to take some test and assorted. I’m wondering if that’s routine.

Yes, this is routine for life insurance. If you have some life insurance through your work, they don’t require it. However if you get life insurance privately, they will send someone to check and make sure you are in good health.
They typically will only take blood, urine, check pulse, and may take your height and weight. The exam usually does not take longer than 10 minutes.

Yes, it’s routine. It’s not a true medical exam, but a paramedical exam, and will include blood, urine, and saliva tests.

Yes. Very rountine. I’ve never heard of a good life insurance company who doesn’t do that.

Quite common. It will be a medical technician.
