How Can I Stop Someone From Collecting Life Insurance On Me Once I Turned 18? How Can I Find Out Where It Is?

I am asking for a young friend of mine who is (rightfully so) afraid that her mother has taken out life insurance on her. She is 19 now, and wants to know if she has, and wants to stop her from doing so. Does anyone know about this sort of thing?

If your guardian took it out on you when you were born, you can’t do a blessed thing about it.
Once you turn 18, no one can take a policy out on you without your consent – oh, and the insurance company will send someone by to collect blood, urine, and saliva samples, too. So you might notice that.
If you’re still super paranoid about it, you can pay $75 here: http://www.mib.com/html/lost-life-insura... and they’ll give you a list of companies that have received APPLICATIONS on you, in the past ten years. Then you call those companies and ask if there’s an actual policy on you.
**if you’re asking, is there a central database somewhere that you can access, the answer is no.**
Even if she did find out she was the insured on a life policy, only the owner of that policy can cancel or change the beneficiary. Checking with the MIB would be an exercise in futility.
If she is seriously concerned about her life being in danger, she needs to seek legal protection.
